Pamela Diane Allan was born on 4 February 1953. (1) She attended Greystanes High School and went to the University of Sydney graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree with honours in Government and a Diploma in Education. In 1971 Ms Allan joined the Toongabbie Branch of the Australian Labor Party. In 1983 she was elected to Parramatta City Council on which she served a full four year term. (2)
In 1984-88 she became a public servant, working in the Department of Youth and Community Services, and Public Service Board. (3)
She was member for Wentworthville between 19 March 1988 and 3 May 1991, member for Blacktown between 25 May 1991 and 5 March 1999 and again member for Wentworthville between 27 March 1999 and 2 March 2007. Between 1988 and 1995 Pam Allan was Shadow Minister for Planning, Environment and Women’s Affairs and from 4 April 1995 to 8 April 1999 she was Minister for the Environment. (4)
