Full description This project was established to document the involvement of the Australian Science Archives Project (ASAP) and subsequent organisations with the records of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute (RACI). In 1986 ASAP was called in by the History and Archives Committee of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute to assist them with the disposal of the records of the RACI that had accumulated since the Institute's inception in the 1920s. Working with the convenor of the committee, John Spink, and a former RACI registrar, Ken Ryan, the ASAP surveyed the records held by the Institute at its headquarters in Melbourne. A small quantity of records had previously been transferred to the University of Melbourne Archives and it was decided that the two collections should be amalgamated. All RACI records were transferred from the University of Melbourne Archives to ASAP Melbourne to enable the reconciliation of box numbers and inventory identification numbers and to facilitate further documentation of the records. Work with RACI and their records was continued by Austehc, and later the eScholarship Research Centre.
