Full description This project was established to document the involvement of the Australian Science Archives Project (ASAP) and subsequent organisations with the records of Phillip Garth law (1912-2010), physicist, Antarctic explorer and educationist. On 29 July 1988 in News Diary of the Melbourne Age, Dr P.G. Law (Antarctic Explorer, Physicist) made a public appeal for assistance to help him prepare his diaries and papers for deposit in the National Library of Australia. The Australian Science Archives Project, with the financial support of the Rotary Club of Balwyn, but in particular Mr Tim Wilkinson, became involved in this project. The collection was processed during 1988, and remained in Melbourne (transferred to the Museum of Victoria 4 April 1989) while Law's biographer Kathleen Ralston worked on the material, and was transferred to the National Library of Australia, Canberra, in May 1998. The Records of Phillip Garth Law (the guide to the records) and covered those materials transferred to the National Library and some material still in Law's possession. In 1998 the Australian Science Archives Project received funding from the National Library of Australia to process records remaining in the possession of P.G. Law, which were processed at his house in January-March 1999. Further material, has since been accessioned and listed, and the Guide to Records updated. This collection has been progressively transferred to the National Library of Australia.
