Full description This project was established to document the involvement of the Australian Science Archives Project (ASAP) and subsequent organisations with the records of Armin Aleksander Öpik (1898 - 1983). Öpik, a professor of geology at the University of Tartu, Estonia, before World War II, left his homeland with his family when the Russians invaded at the end of the war. A world authority on trilobytes and cambrian geology, he worked briefly in Germany before emigrating to Australia to carve out a distinguished career with the BMR.
