This is a card index to correspondence, with both subject and departmental (officials, etc.) entries. Most subject and departmental entries have several cards clipped together, showing the chronological entries, which give date, precis of subject, from whom and file action.

There are separate sequences for correspondence relating to the Flemington Sale Yard, the Glebe Homebush Abattoir and Homebush Abattoir.
