Full description

This series consists of black and white photographs possibly taken soon after the establishment of the Travelling School Hospital in 1914. However the photographs are undated. They are apparently original prints. The photographs were possibly taken or commissioned by the Department of Public Health, and may have formed part of a larger project of photographing health services to children as contemporary photographs exist for other health services.

The series shows patients in consultations and undergoing surgical procedures; children being examined by physicians; and the interior of the recovery room. Some of these images were used in the Report of the Minister for Public Instruction for the Year 1915.

The photographs bear no captions although there is pencilled identification on the reverse of each photograph.
