The series consists of corporate and Ministerial files which document the functional activities of the Maritime and Waterways agencies.

The Maritime Services Board was established on 1 February 1936 under the Maritime Services Board Act, 1935. (1)

The records include Ministerial briefings and correspondence with individuals, associations and agencies on a range of maritime-related issues. They provide evidence of the development of legislation, document legal matters including tribunal appeals, Supreme Court records and Crown Solicitor's advice.
