The series consists of corporate and Ministerial files which document the functional activities of the Maritime and Waterways agencies.
The Maritime Services Board was established on 1 February 1936 under the Maritime Services Board Act, 1935. (1)
The records include Ministerial briefings and correspondence with individuals, associations and agencies on a range of maritime-related issues. They provide evidence of the development of legislation, document legal matters including tribunal appeals, Supreme Court records and Crown Solicitor's advice. Individual correspondence within the records often contain a prefix correspondence number range, for example Chief Executive Correspondence contains a prefix of CEC. These prefixed correspondence number ranges have been incorporated with the file title.
There are documents relating to budget estimates, forecast expenditure on new programs and proposals, property management and corporate planning.
The records are arranged in file number order. Some files have an alphabetical prefix (AA) and year prefix (YY) and are labelled with the function and activity.
