PurposeThe purpose of the L215 Adavale Basin 2D Seismic Survey, initiated by the Australian Government's Data Driven Discoveries program in collaboration with the Geological Survey of Queensland, is to enhance the geological understanding of the Adavale Basin in South-Central Queensland. Conducted between April and July 2023, this survey collected 1715 kilometres of deep crustal seismic data to map the basin's subsurface geology, aiming to improve knowledge on its stratigraphy, hydrogeology, resource potential, and underground salt storage capacities. This modern, high-fold dataset seeks to complement existing data, supporting future exploration and attracting investment by highlighting the basin's untapped resources. Ultimately, the survey aims to contribute to sustainable resource development and the advancement of Australia's geological knowledge, aligning with national economic growth and sustainable management practices.
