PurposeThe primary purpose of the Adavale Basin 2D Seismic Reprocessing Initiative is to enhance the exploration potential of the Adavale Basin in Australia. Funded by the Australian Government under Geoscience Australia's Data-Driven Discoveries Program, this initiative focuses on reprocessing seismic data to illuminate the basin's potential for oil, natural gas, and groundwater extraction. Additionally, it explores the geological storage capacities for carbon dioxide and hydrogen. The project aims to encourage investment in these sectors by delivering pre-competitive data. Furthermore, this initiative contributes to our broader geological knowledge by linking findings in the Adavale Basin with existing data on other significant Australian basins, including the early Palaeozoic Amadeus and Warburton basins, as well as the Permian-Triassic Pedirka and Simpson basins.
