The Ian William Wark Guide to Records documents and contextualises the records of Ian William Wark, Chief of the Division of Industrial Chemistry, CSIRO 1939 to 1958, Director of the Chemical Research Laboratories 1958 to 1960, and a member of the Executive 1960 to 1966. The records are grouped into 19 series documenting Wark's career in chemistry. This includes correspondence, publications, reports and files relating to his time at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and later at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). The collection described by the Guide comprised of 500 inventory items, mostly paper format files. The total collection occupies 597 linear cm of shelf space (or its equivalent). The Guide is the output of a research database. It was first produced in paper format by the Australian Science Archives Project in 1985, and reissued in 1987. The Guide was published online by the Australian Science and Technology Heritage Centre in 1999. The records were transferred to the Basser Library at the Australian Academy of Science. The collection was listed by Gavan McCarthy, with Eleanor Ellis, Ann Gray and Rosanne Walker.Data time period: 1985
