Full description
The Brown Family Guide to Records documents and contextualises the records of Gilbert, Marie and Ian Brown and includes a complete digital copy of the collection. The items are grouped into seven series and cover the lives and careers of Dr Gilbert Brown, a pioneer of modern anaesthesia in Australia, Dr Marie Brown, whose medical career featured a strong emphasis on public health and maternal and infant health, and their son Ian Brown, an industrial chemist who had a long career with the CSIRO. The records were transferred to the Australian Science and Technology Heritage Centre in December 2000 and listing of the collection began in July 2002. The collection consists of 72 inventory items, originally only paper files, but the collection has since been digitised in its entirety. The Guide is the output of a research database. It was first published online by the Australian Science and Technology Heritage Centre (Austehc) in April 2004. The records were transferred to Austehc in 2000 for processing. The physical records were transferred to the State Library of Victoria (MS 13489). The collection was listed by Ailie Smith and Gavan McCarthy.Data time period: 2000
