The Walter Geoffrey Duffield Guide to Records documents and contextualises the records of Walter Geoffrey Duffield, Professor of Physics, Reading University, England 1910-1923 and inaugural Director of the Solar Physics Observatory at Mount Stromlo near Canberra. The collection comprised of 160 inventory items, mostly paper format files. The Guide documents these records in ten series, covering Duffield's time as Professor of Physics at Reading University, England, and Director of the Solar Physics Observatory, Mount Stromlo. The collection also includes subject files, photographs and publications by Duffield. The total collection occupies 114 linear cm of shelf space (or its equivalent).

The Guide is the output of a research database. It was first produced in paper format by the Australian Science Archives Project in 1987. An online version was published by the Australian Science and Technology Heritage Centre in April 2004.

The records were transferred to the Basser Library at the Australian Academy of Science (MS095). The collection was listed by Gavan McCarthy and Howard Sankey.
