Full description

The Australian Lithospheric Architecture Magnetotelluric Project (AusLAMP) is a collaborative, long-term initiative involving the Australian federal and state/territory governments in conjunction with research organizations. This nationwide project aims to collect long-period magnetotelluric (MT) data at approximately 3,000 sites across the Australian continent, with the objective of mapping its electrical resistivity/conductivity structure. The project provides valuable insights into Australia's lithospheric architecture and tectonic evolution, as well as supporting resource exploration.

The AusLAMP Victoria project was a collaboration between the Geological Survey of Victoria and Geoscience Australia (GA). The data were acquired using Australian National Sounding and Imaging Research Infrastructure (ANSIR)/AuScope and GA's MT instruments from 2013 to 2017. All processed datasets and models were previously published through the associated links in this product.

This release comprises time series data provided in both the original format and the MTH5 hierarchical format. These formats ensure that users have access to the data in its initial format as well as in a self-described format. The original recorded data were converted into MTH5 format using the open-source MTH5 Python package (https://github.com/kujaku11/mth5). The creation of this product was made possible through Resourcing Australia's Prosperity initiative (https://www.ga.gov.au/scientific-topics/resourcing-australias-prosperity).

We acknowledge the traditional landowners, private landholders and national park authorities within the survey region, without whose cooperation these data could not have been collected.

Statement:
The magnetotelluric time series data were acquired for AusLAMP in Victoria within the years 2013 through 2017. All processed data, models and other related products are available through the associated links to this product. This product is to release time series data for the project.

Notes

Purpose
This data collection was part of AusLAMP program. The dataset can be used to produce frequency domain data and other products, which provide new insights into lithospheric architecture and geodynamic processes, as well as valuable information for resource exploration in the region.
