Full description

The Australian Lithospheric Architecture Magnetotelluric Project (AusLAMP) in New South Wales (NSW) was a collaboration between the Geological Survey of New South Wales and Geoscience Australia, with the Geological Survey of New South Wales funding and assistance of data acquisition, while Geoscience Australia provided in-kind contributions, project management, data acquisition, data processing and modelling. Some resources were provided with Exploring for the Future Program. This project started in June 2016 and concluded in June 2025.

Phase one of the project released processed data and model from 224 stations in 2020. Phase two comprised processed data from 73 stations in 2023. This phase three release includes a report, two new stations and an updated model from all released data in New South Wales and Victoria. This new model extends the coverage of northern NSW. The AusLAMP data from Victoria in this model were collected through a collaborative project between the Geological Survey of Victoria and Geoscience Australia. Few stations along the NSW state border were collected by the University of Adelaide, with acquisition funding from the Geological Survey of South Australia and field support from Geoscience Australia.

This release package includes a preferred 3D resistivity model projected to GDA94 MGA Zone 55 and associated information for this project. The model is in SGrid and geo-referenced TIFF formats. A report describes the methodologies for data acquisition, processing and modelling/inversion, providing users with insights into the data lineage and derived products such as resistivity models. The model and report were produced as part of Resourcing Australia’s Prosperity initiative.

Lineage

Maintenance and Update Frequency: asNeeded
Statement:
A new resistivity model was produced from AusLAMP data in New South Wales and Victoria.

Notes

Purpose
To provide an updated resistivity model and a report for the AusLAMP NSW project. The model can provide information for geological structures and mineral implications in these states.
