This series of paper-based subject files was maintained by former Prime Minister J M (Malcolm) Fraser from about the time of his election to the House of Representatives in December 1955, as Liberal member for Wannon (Victoria), to late 1969 when he was appointed Minister for Defence in the Gorton Government. For much of this period Mr Fraser was a backbencher, but some of the more interesting files in the series date from the period he was Minister for the Army (1966-1968) and then Minister for Education and Science (1968-1969).
