Brief description

Secondary electron, backscattered electron, cathodoluminescence, and charge contrast images of a polished gibbsite grain in the ElectroScan E-3 environmental scanning electron microscope. Images were collected at 30 kV using water vapour and under the following other conditions:

  1. Pressure = 2.4 torr and 9.8 mm working distance;
  2. Pressure = 0.9 torr and 9.8 mm working distance;
  3. Pressure = 0.3 torr and 9.2 mm working distance; and
  4. Pressure = 1.7 torr, 6.3 mm working distance and detector bias of 500 V.
