Brief description

This service includes well geothermal temperature and location, extracted (from the OZTemp database), and used to create the 'OZTemp Interpreted Temperature at 5km Depth' image of Australia.

Lineage

Statement: This service is based on the OZTemp Well Temperature Data displaying only the points used to create the OZTemp_Interpreted_Temperature_ 5km_Depth product. This is an extract from the OZTemp database, an updated and improved version of the AUSTHERMO5 borehole temperature database previously described by Chopra and Holgate (2005). OZTemp currently contains 5513 individual wells and 17247 temperature and/or temperature gradient data records. Due to the range of sources of data it is known to be of varying quality and reliability and should therefore be used with discretion; however it represents the best available data compilation of its type.
