The records comprise files dealing with the establishment of the Argentine Ant Eradication Committee and its operation. There is correspondence between the Committee and the thirty-nine Sydney Metropolitan Councils and the Council of the City of Wollongong which were involved in the eradication campaign, as well as between private individuals and others concerned with the publicity connected with the campaign. There are, in addition, working papers from the Committee which cover general administrative matters.

Files are ordered in two ways. Working papers have no file numbers and are arranged chronologically. G and M files are ordered by year prefix and file number.

These records provide a valuable source of information on the work of the Committee while it was part of the Department of Local Government.
