Full description
The volumes contain reports from coroners on inquests held throughout the colony, including a few held in Van Diemen's Land. The deaths were mostly caused by drowning, apoplexy or a "Visitation of God". There are also occasional murders, thieves killed in the course of a robbery and spearings by Aborigines (mostly in the Bathurst district).
Later reports for June 1828 are located at 2/8290 (microfilm copy SR Reel 2233), also in the ARK*.
The volumes have been indexed by State Records - entries have been made for the deceased and witnesses but not for the jurors or coroners. A list of entries made for each volume is located in the front of each.
The index entries were also on cards which were interfiled in a card index, a copy of which is available on microfilm SR Reels 1250-1251 at Western Sydney.
(2/8286-89; microfilm copy SR Reels 2232-2233). 4 vols.
