Full description

This material was supplied in response to a request from the NSW Bicentennial Council to government departments for examples of items produced to commemorate and celebrate 1988. It includes a bicentennial certificate and family tree chart from the Attorney General's Department, information on the Justice and Police Museum; Australia Post Staff Journal No. 45, December 1988, black and white photographs, four sets of Terra Australis Stamp Packs, four Terra Australis First Day covers, one set of "The First Australians: Rock Paintings"; a bicentennial key ring, registration stickers and car number plates from the Department of Motor Transport; brochures, stickers, coasters, badges, key ring, T-shirt, programmes, publications, black and white and colour photographs from the Darling Harbour Authority; wooden wall plaque, badge and brochures from the Maritime Services Board of New South Wales; photographs, video tapes, reports, news clippings and publications from the Department of Education and TAFE; photographs, video tapes, audio cassettes, handbooks, newscuttings, and a publication on the history of the Newcastle Conservatorium of Music from the Ministry of Education and Youth Affairs; loose-leaf bound volumes of photocopied newsclippings on State Rail Bicentennial Regional Celebrations, stickers, leaflets and copy of Bicentennial unit's Final Report, January 1989, from State Rail Authority; four loose-leaf bound reports from the Traffic Authority of New South Wales.

The material contains video tapes and audio cassettes, including a VHS video tape labelled "Official opening. Performance Hall. 20/8/88" and an audio cassette of an ABC interview with Knud Smenge and a conservatorium organ recital, 18 June 1988, supplied by the Ministry of Education and Youth Affairs (Newcastle Conservatorium of Music); an audio cassette - Launch of "From Park to Palace" by Lord Mayor of Newcastle, Ald. J. McNaughton, 27 September 1988, and interview with author Kenneth Wiseman and staff member E. Collins; and video tapes produced by schools, supplied by the Department of Education Archives.
