Full description

The Sydney International Exhibition was the first International Exhibition to be held in Australia. It was officially opened on 17 September 1879 and was closed on 20 April 1880.

In 1986 the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences (MAAS) received, by donation from the ANZ Bank, five boxes of records relating to the Exhibition. The records consist of original records created and maintained by the Superintendent of Admission for the Commission, Captain R. Espinase. The records document the day-to-day administration of the Exhibition and complement record series NRS-1410 Registers of letters received and NRS-1411 Press copies of letters sent.
