Full description

This volume initially contained instructions and circulars issued by the Premier's Department, the Public Service Board, the Treasury and the Department of Public Works. In 1965 the system of recording instructions in a central register was allowed to lapse, but it was revived in 1973. From then on, the register was used to record instructions issued within the Department itself, relating to procedures, policies and practices and instructions, as well as requests directed to the Department from outside authorities.

Responsibility for maintaining the register was given to the Officer-in-Charge of the General Administration Division and the register was to be kept in No. 1 Section. In addition to the central register, each Branch or Section was required to keep a separate instruction book or folder containing copies of those instructions which have particular relevance to that Branch or Section.
