Full description

This Physical Education Branch folder contains a copy of a 1966 submission with appendices sent from the Director of Physical Education and Executive Member of the National Fitness Council to the Minister for Education. The submission requested the Minister’s consideration for another agency to be approached with regard to awarding a diploma in light of the Commonwealth National Fitness Council’s decision not to award a diploma to the Australian Recreation Leadership Course. The appendices outline the history of the Course’s inception and early development; Appendix A consists of extracts from the minutes of the Commonwealth Council for National Fitness; Appendix B contains extracts from the NSW National Fitness Council; Appendix C contains a 1965 press release from the Commonwealth Minister for Health; Appendix D contains extracts from the minutes of the Committee on the Diploma; Appendix E contains the aims and objectives of the Course as prepared by the Director of Physical Education; Appendix F is missing; and Appendix G contains 1965 Course statistical information.
