Full description

This series is admission cards of inmates at the Metropolitan Girls' Shelter.

These cards register the admission of inmates and note name and admission date, date and place of birth, religion, I.Q. [Intelligence Quotient], name and occupation of father, mother's name, address of parents, phone number and girl's occupation; from whom received, offence, how disposed of and date. They also give physical descriptions of the inmates and include notes on health and condition on admission, medical reports, and details of legal action faced by the inmate.

If the inmate is a State Ward this is written at the top on the card. If the girl appeared in court more often than once there is sometimes more than one card for the person.

The cards are arranged alphabetically by surname.
