This series consists of the Rough Business Paper Books for Committee Meetings of the Hunter District Water Supply and Sewerage Board and its successor, the Hunter District Water Board, for the period from 1926 until 1953. The series, which includes 79 volumes, constitutes a record of the proceedings at each meeting of the Board's several Committees, comparable to a combination of Minutes and Agenda.

The Committees dealt with in this series were the Finance Committee, General Purposes Committee, WaterSupply Committee, Sewerage Committee, Stormwater Drainage Committee, and Officers and Employees Committee. All Committees would meet on the same occasion, and were dealt with successively in the same Business Paper.

Throughout Volumes 1-5, the Business Papers are entered by hand; Volume 5 contains only one paper, that for the meeting of 28 June, 1927, and the rest of the volume has been left blank. From the next meeting, recorded in Volume 6, until November, 1939 (Volume 53), typescript lists of business items for each meeting are pasted onto the verso pages, with annotations on the facing recto pages recording their reception and any action resolved upon. Thereafter the typescripts are pasted to both facing pages, and annotations, where they occur, appear on the typescript.

Volumes 1-5 are large octavo volumes. Volume 6 is a quarto, the strain on its binding caused by the bulk of the paste-ins having been relieved by the expedient of cutting out every second leaf. The remainder of the series consists of large quarto cuttings books. All are in quarter-leather bindings.
