Full description
These are not State archives rather they are Parliamentary archives in the custody of Museums of History NSW.
Tabled documents, historically referred to as tabled papers include the annual and other reports of government departments and agencies and statutory bodies, delegated legislation, committee reports and evidence provided to committees, returns to orders of the House and petitions. Documents may be 'tabled' by the President, ministers, committee chairs, members and the Clerk, and they are presented in accordance with various standing orders, statutes, and orders of the House, as well as on the initiative of the government. The House may order the production of documents held by the Government. These orders are commonly referred to as "orders for papers" or "orders for returns". Documents relating to returns to orders belong to the Tabled Papers Series, but are boxed independently of the series to facilitate ease of access. This series also holds the papers tabled in what is now referred to as the First Legislative Council. Although the First Council was established in 1823 it did not meet until 1824. Documents consist of reports, minutes, letters, invoices, Bills of Parliament.
