This series of valuation and rate books from the Yarrangobilly Shire Council, later the Gadara Shire Council, records the valuation of properties as assessed, and the subsequent payment of rates by property owners. Every year, each local council was required to set the level of and collect rates in respect of all rateable properties within the shire district.
These valuation and rate books consist of the following information: the name and address of both the owner and occupier, situation, areas or dimensions of land, unimproved capital value, land valuation, rates due, and rates paid including any arrears.
