This series is comprised of volumes containing the minutes of meetings held by the Yarrangobilly Shire Council, later the Gadara Shire Council.

The minutes were handwritten into the volumes until 1916, when they began to be typed. Each set of minutes was signed by the President, usually at the following meeting, when they were read and confirmed.

The minutes of every meeting usually included the following proceedings: Attendance, Confirmation of Minutes, Reports, Correspondence, and General Business. At each meeting the Council variously received reports from the Finance Committee, the Works Committee, the Shire Clerk, the Shire Engineer and Shire Inspectors.

The minutes document each decision the Council made, including matters concerning roads, buildings, bridges, sanitary concerns, public appointments, tourism and local business.

The last two volumes in this series have been bound and labelled as Tumut Shire Council, not Gadara Shire.
