The series documents work carried out by the Registrar-General's Office and its successors, largely in relation to land titling and registration. It includes correspondence, official documents and plans.
The scope of the series is quite wide, and includes correspondence relating to proposed legislation or amendments to legislation including the Real Property Act, Conveyancing Act, Crown Lands Acts and Strata Titles Act. The series also includes documents relating to Departmental proposals and objectives, changes to the structure of the Department, alterations to and maintenance of the Registrar-General’s office building, the opening of the records wing of the Registrar-General’s Department, separation of the administration of the Companies Office, the Torrens Register Automation Project (TRAP) and related projects, conditional purchase, use of metric measurements, and reviews of fees.
