Full description

Each teacher maintained a programme and lessons register for their class. The programme register covered an academic year. There is an introductory page setting out the name of the school, the grade, the dates of the terms, the average age of the pupils, the name of the teacher and the date of assignment to the class. The volumes are sub-divided into terms. At the end of each term is an unstructured page, whose use is at the teacher’s discretion. The programme is otherwise set out in pre-printed pages. At the left-hand edge of each verso page is a column marked with week numbers. In Infants’ School registers, a three-page spread is allotted to each term’s English programmes, a page and a half to Music, a page each to Social Studies, Arithmetic and Art, and half-page spreads to Nature Study, Handwork and Physical Training. The teacher completed lessons on all of these topics in the course of each week.
