This is the official, signed set of Minutes for the Standing Committee of the Academic Senate, which met between meetings of the full Senate to deal with minor and routine matters and to make reccommendations which would be placed before the Senate for approval. The matters dealt with covered all aspects of the teaching activities of the University, including changes to degree structures and course offerings, the maintenance of standards and monitoring of student performance, and the approval of awards of higher degrees. The series as held is incomplete; only one binder of typescript Minutes is in the Newcastle University repository.
