Full description

This is the most recent, and therefore the most nearly complete, of the successive versions of the Index to Senate Resolutions. It was kept and periodically updated in the University Secretariat. This Index was first compiled in June, 1975, and entries continued to be added to it at irregular intervals until 1985. It is in card format, organised by classified number, with each entity or subject area having its own number and all resolutions relating to that entity being recorded on the appropriate card or cards according to their own sequential reference number as given in the Senate Minutes.
An earlier Index (to August, 1972) is known to have been drawn up; this was not conceived as a master controlling series, but was prepared for the information and use of the members of the Senate, and in a format (typed foolscap sheets) which did not lend itself to regular updating. This earlier Index, however, probably served as the basis for the earliest stage of the present Index. It is likely that there were yet earlier attempts at an index, but no copy of any such is known to exist.
