Reports cover topics including capital works expenditure; revenue matters such as freight rates and tonnage, and passenger fares; operational concerns such as causes of train delays and analysis of locomotive failures; industrial matters such as strikes and delays; analysis of customer service complaints; major projects; and the monthly report by branches.Progress Reports usually include a table of contents at the front and the Management Reports contain an agenda to indicate the topics of discussion. The first thirty-two items are bound booklets and some of these contain loose papers - including minutes, ministerial memoranda, draft reports, news releases, and freight business reports. Subsequent reports are fastened in the top left corner. Minutes and agenda of the Committee can also be found in NRS15915 Minutes and agenda papers of the Management Committee.Custody History:From 1955 until 2000 the State Rail Authority of New South Wales maintained an ‘in house archives’ consisting of the archival records of the Authority, its predecessor agencies and the private railway companies taken over by the government. The date ranges of the records were from 1849 until 2000. When the decision was made to close the ‘State Rail Archives’ the parts of the collection that were required as State archives were transferred to the State Records Authority of NSW. Those record series were incorporated into the State Records series system of archives control and were re-numbered.This series was formerly part of the State Rail Archives collection where it was identified as series R44. This series consists of financial and strategic reports for Management Committee meetings of the Public Transport Commission and the State Rail Authority. The series is arranged according to Accounting Period of which there are thirteen for each financial year.
