These registers record details of the children admitted to the Farrar School for the Deaf. Farrar School for the Deaf was located at Ashfield between 1946 and 1963. From 1964 the school has been located at Croydon Park. The registers are arranged chronologically.

There is a separate registration sequence for boys and girls. The information listed for each child registered is as follows: register number; date of admission; pupil's name; date of birth; religious denomination; name of previous school and date of leaving; name, address and occupation of parent or guardian; date of admission to each grade; date of leaving the school; and the occupation entered upon (this column has also been used to record the new school enrolled in; move interstate or overseas; or the progression to High School).

Formal admission registers in paper format ceased in approximately 1995 when transfer to the Office Administration System in Schools (OASIS) commenced, however, some schools continued to refer to paper printouts or maintain paper registers.
