Full description
The construction of the North Coast Railway (from Maitland to South Grafton) was authorised by the North Coast Railway Act, 1906 (Act No 18, 1906). Surveying had begun by 30 June 1907 (1), and tenders for various sections of the work were let commencing in November 1907. (2) It is assumed, therefore that this series was created during 1907.
The calculations cover engines and other rolling stock anticipated for use on the line, bridges, tanks and tank stands, tracks and components. The subject of each calculation is described highlighting particular issues such as loads and stresses. The descriptions are enhanced by the use of diagrams and plans, and the calculations are shown. There is a photograph of a 'T' class engine at the rear of the volume.
An alphabetical index appears at the front of the volume.
The number 3G/184 appears on the front endpapers of this volume. Its significance is unknown. It was possibly a location symbol when the record was active or in storage.
Custody History
