Full description

These files relate to capital subsidies granted to voluntary organisations towards providing programmes and facilities for the care and training of intellectually handicapped persons. Applications for grants were reviewed by the Inter-Departmental Standing Committee on the Intellectually Handicapped, and were issued by the Treasury from the proceeds of the Intellectually Handicapped Persons Assistance Fund established for that purpose.

The files include applications for capital grants and associated correspondence. Some also contain articles of association and annual reports, and occasionally lists of children to be considered for placement within day attendance centres.
