Full description

Case files of applicants excluded from compensation benefits until November 1941, from which date ex-gratia payments were made. These payments were validated and continued on a statutory basis by the Workers' Compensation (Silicosis) Act, 1942.

Files include initial applications for compensation, warrants to the Medical Authority to examine applicants, Medical Authority reports, details of applicants' industrial history, wage statements from employers, statements from beneficiaries of income received from other sources relevant to the determination of awards, particulars of reviews of awards, certificates of disablement, death certificates, and certificates of cause of death.
