These files came to State Records with the Chief Secretary's letters received with which they were intermixed. Many of the letters bear Chief Secretary's Department registration numbers and although the State Trawling Industry had its own registration system the relationship between the two offices was very close. The Chief Secretary's registers and indexes should be consulted for this reason. Some of the files listed here may in fact be Chief Secretary's files but it was not possible to ascertain this at this stage without a thorough search of the registers.
