Full description

This register records a daily return of piles driven for the construction of new wharves. Each pile is numerically and diagrammatically identified on each page and progress on driving is recorded in columns detailing date, length pitched, length cut off, net length, below ground, above ground, description of piles and remarks.

These pile driving register sheets also incorporate additional information on specified depth of driving or sinking, steam pressure, total depth driven by last six blows, details of sheeting, and certification on the verso. 

Also included in the bundle are consolidated tabulations of the register sheets recording summary of piles driven analysis of piles driven, and detailed analyses of vertical pile driving, raking pile driving and fender pile driving.
