Brief description

The National Electricity Infrastructure database presents the spatial locations of Major Power Stations, Electricity Transmission Substations and Electricity Transmission Lines within Australia; in point format for known major power stations and transmission substations, and line format for lines.

Lineage

Maintenance and Update Frequency: asNeeded
Statement:
Datasets were first individually digitized in 2011 (Version 1) from the library of imagery held within Geoscience Australia. Imagery used ranged from 0.15m to 2.5m resolution.

The individual datasets were revised a further 3 times, Version 2 in March 2017, Version 3 in 2019 using both using Esri World Imagery and the current Version 4 has been updated using Esri World Imagery and multiple sources in 2024.

Version 4 (2024), the 3 separate datasets have been combined into a feature dataset.

Notes

Purpose
