Statement:

This dataset is an updated version of the National Electricity Infrastructure dataset last updated in 2025.

In 2026, all feature classes were updated with new features using the most current trusted sources that are publicly available. The Power Lines feature class has been restricted to only include lines with a capacity of 66kV or above and any existing feature below that capacity was removed. Similarly, the Major Power Stations feature class has been restricted to only include stations with a capacity of 5MW or above and any existing feature below that capacity was removed. These changes help define what is included in the dataset and refines future update processes.

Third party power line data has been included for the Power Lines feature class for the states of Victoria and Tasmania. The features were assessed against Esri World Imagery by Geoscience Australia and edited where appropriate.

Several fields in the Major Power Stations schema have undergone significant changes, predominantly involving the consolidation of values into broader categories.

Further information about this update, and previous versions of the dataset, can be found in the Revision Dates and Descriptions section of the metadata statement.
