Research Project
Full description Elevation constitutes a critical dimension of mining activity, as topography significantly shapes environmental processes, operational constraints and social outcomes associated with resource extraction and development. This project compiles and analyses mining datasets to enable scholars to examine the interface between mining activities and elevation. It aims to identify where topographic factors may increase vulnerability or operational complexity. Building on prior interdisciplinary research at the Sustainable Minerals Institute, The University of Queensland, the project deepens the understanding of social and environment vulnerabilities in areas impacted by resource development.
