Broadband magnetotelluric (MT) data were acquired across the lower Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, to investigate crustal and upper-lithospheric electrical resistivity structure beneath the Tumby Bay region. The dataset comprises measurements from 39 unique MT station locations distributed along an approximately 80 km east–west profile. Sites were occupied at nominal spacing of approximately 2 km, providing data suitable for two-dimensional and regional-scale resistivity investigations. A continuously recording remote-reference station was deployed at the western end of the transect to support noise reduction during processing. Initial field acquisition was undertaken in July 2018. Owing to low natural electromagnetic source-field strength during the initial deployment, seven stations were re-occupied and re-recorded in November 2019 to improve data quality. Including repeat occupations and the remote-reference station, the collection contains data from 47 individual site deployments. This collection provides a broadband MT dataset suitable for investigations of crustal and upper-lithospheric electrical structure beneath the lower Eyre Peninsula.Credit

Data in this collection were acquired during a broadband magnetotelluric (MT) survey conducted across the Tumby Bay region of the lower Eyre Peninsula, South Australia, in 2018 and 2019. Field acquisition was undertaken in two phases. Initial deployments were conducted in July 2018, with selected sites re-occupied in November 2019 to improve data quality under conditions of low natural electromagnetic source-field strength. Field acquisition employed LEMI-423 broadband magnetotelluric systems hosted by the University of Adelaide and accessed through the AuScope - ANSIR Research Facility for Earth Sounding. The instrumentation was acquired through a combination of Geological Survey of South Australia and AuScope NCRIS funding. Continued availability of the instrumentation pool is supported through ongoing NCRIS investment via AuScope, including maintenance, calibration, refurbishment, and operational management activities. AuScope is supported by the Australian Government’s National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS). Data acquisition was funded by the Geological Survey of South Australia through its PACE Copper program.
