Full description

This dataset contains raw broadband magnetotelluric (MT) time-series data acquired during the Kapunda MT survey conducted in South Australia in 2019 and 2020. The dataset comprises unprocessed recordings of orthogonal electric-field (Ex, Ey) and magnetic-field (Bx, By) components collected at available survey deployments, including parallel instrument comparison tests where applicable. No signal processing, filtering, editing, or frequency-domain transformation has been applied beyond file collation and packaging for archival preservation. These data constitute the primary observational record available for the Kapunda MT survey and provide the source data from which a subset of subsequent processed MT products were generated.

Lineage

This dataset contains raw broadband magnetotelluric (MT) time-series data derived directly from field acquisition activities undertaken during the Kapunda MT survey conducted in South Australia in 2019 and 2020. Data are preserved in the original native formats generated by Geoscience Australia MTU-8A and University of Adelaide MTU-5C broadband MT systems and represent unprocessed field measurements collected at available survey deployments. Raw time-series data for an additional 52 survey sites acquired by an external contractor using Phoenix Geophysics MTU-5A instruments are not included within this collection. The dataset includes deployment metadata recorded during field operations, including station identifiers, geographic coordinates, deployment and recovery dates, and associated field observations where available. The dataset has not undergone signal processing, filtering, resampling, calibration, or transformation beyond file collation and packaging for archival preservation. Persistent identifiers and associated hardware provenance records for individual instruments are maintained separately and may be used to resolve instrument-specific deployment information and equipment provenance. This dataset constitutes the authoritative raw time-series archive of available field-acquired observations from the Kapunda MT survey and forms the basis for a subset of subsequent processed and derived data products.
