Cultural topics covered: fishing nets, blow pipes and uses; use of handmade dishes for food, seeds etc; tools (baskets and axes); traditional hunting; blowpipes and poison; traditional herbs and medicines, weaving palm leaf mats, childrearing; traditional medicines and taboos associated with childbirth; personal narratives (childhood memories, work, Semai identity, religion). The recordings were made under a Project funded by the Fundamental Research Grant (FRGS/2/2014/SSI09/UTP/02/1) 2014-2017 from Malaysian Ministry of Higher Education. The Project leaders were Dr Sumathi Renganathan (Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS) and Orang Asli community leader/head man Tok Batin Jasmani Mat Jalak, with Dr Inge Kral (The Australian National University).. All items 007 were recorded at Kampung Tumboh Hangat, Perak, Malaysia on April 11 2017.
