The commencement of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Act, 1967, on 1 January 1968, established a procedure to provide victims of violent crimes with some relief from the burden of bearing expenses and losses arising from criminal acts, as well as to afford some measure of compensation for injuries sustained.These files contain the victim's claim for compensation under the Act, associated supporting evidence, copies of judgments and all relevant documentation. They represent a sample only of all files created.
