Full description Australia has some of the highest rates of streptococcal infection worldwide. Alarmingly, there has been a resurgence in severe streptococcal disease over the past two decades. Recent technological advances now enable researchers to determine the exact genetic makeup of microbial pathogens. This project aims to use these technologies to address questions about the emergence and evolution of this globally significant pathogen.
