Building capacity for knowledge translation and communicating research impact amongst teaching, research and clinic staff: Evaluation of a multi-faceted strategy in a University setting.

Full description There are significant gaps between research knowledge and what occurs in practice. Knowledge translation (KT) is a broad approach to reducing these gaps. It includes the synthesis, dissemination, exchange, and implementation of research. These approaches can result in impacts that benefit society. Academics, researchers, and clinicians need to learn how to use these approaches and communicate research impact to funders, and society. Limited research evaluating initiatives to build capacity for these approaches exist. This project aimed to evaluate new strategies being introduced in a Health and Rehabilitation Sciences School in an Australian University to help staff and higher degree research students develop these skills. Using a pre-post study design, a questionnaire was completed before and after introducing these new strategies, including questions about KT activities, communicating impact, and related influences.
