The Museum of Ancient Cultures at Macquarie University, Sydney, holds some 700 papyri, mainly in Greek, but also in other languages and scripts, such as Demotic and Coptic (Egyptian). Most are written on papyrus, but the collection also includes some texts on ostraca (potsherd), parchment, and wood. The collection includes three biblical texts, written in Greek and Coptic, on papyrus and wood. These come from Egypt and date to the Roman and Late Roman / Early Islamic period.
