(2) The register in consignment 1 appears to have been maintained by the Balmain Cemetery Company. This register records the following personal information: The date of burial, date of death, name of person, profession, late residence, age, name of undertaker, and signature of clergyman.

This register has been extensively damaged by fire, and some of the entries are only partly visible. Information in the register is summarised in NRS 15801 Record of Internment and Sales Register, Balmain Cemetery, and Microform CY 968 located at the Mitchell Library.

The Balmain Cemetery Company (See AG 2518) established the Balmain Cemetery in 1866. (1) The first burials occurred in 1868 and the last in 1912. The title of the cemetery passed on 21 February 1886, from the Balmain Cemetery Company to the Leichhardt Municipal Council.
